Biography
Eissa Al-Safran is a professor of PE at Kuwait University, adjunct professor of PE at New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (NMT), and was a visiting professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), NMT, and The University of Tulsa (TU). Al-Safran is the founder and director of the Kuwait University Petroleum Production Research Projects and cofounder and associate director of the NMT PDRP. He earned BSc. (1995), MSc. (1999), and PhD (2003) degrees in PE, and a MSc. degree in mathematics and science education (2003), all from TU. Al-Safran worked and consulted for Kuwait Oil Company. He is the coauthor of the SPE book Applied Multiphase Flow in Pipes and Flow Assurance-Oil and Gas Production, and has authored and coauthored more than 100 publications.
Al-Safran received the regional SPE 2017 Distinguished Achievement for Petroleum Engineering Faculty Award, the regional SPE 2019 Production and Operations Award, the international SPE 2020 Distinguished Membership Award, the regional SPE 2021 Service Award, and the international SPE 2022 Production and Operations Award. Al-Safran is an SPE Kuwait section board member, KU SPE student chapter faculty advisor, SPE Middle East Advisory Council member, SPE E4ME program ambassador, and SPE League of Volunteers member. Al-Safran is a member of SPE, ASME, ASA, and ASEE.
